The World Of Tea Book By Will Battle

Will Battle’s The World Tea Encyclopaedia is proudly sat on the book case in our office and we are excited to offer this smaller monograph – the twenty-fourth in the series – published in 2024 by The International Wine & Food Society Ltd, under the chairmanship of Michael Donohoe.

Will Battle has spent more than 25 years at the heart of the tea industry. He read German and International Studies at Warwick University before training as a tea taster in India, Sri Lanka, Kenya and Malawi.

He has worked as a tea blender for brands in Australia, India, Pakistan, Europe, Canada and the US, and sources teas from all the major producing countries.

He worked for Tetley in the UK for ten years, and in Switzerland and Holland for Douwe Egberts for a further ten years. Since 2016 he has run a tea importing and wholesale business in the UK, supplying high-quality tea to small-and-medium sized brands.

In 2017 his award-winning book The World Tea Encyclopaedia was published, with a second edition in 2020 and a third edition due later in 2024. He consults on a variety of tea industry topics, from sustainable supply chains to tea quality. He lives in Lincolnshire, where he also helpful run the family arable farm.
