We are often asked if Orange Pekoe has an orange flavour or has anything to do with the orange fruit. The simple answer is no, it is a grading of tea. Black tea grown on Camelia sinensis (tea) is graded according to its quality. The highest grades for Western and South Asian teas are referred to as Whole leaf Orange Pekoe.
This loose leaf tea is an OP1. A higher grade and more delicate than OP with a long, wiry leaf producing a light liquor. Rather a robust tea, it can also make a stronger drink with a longer infusion time. A lovely all day tea.
